Member of Parliament for Kyaddondo East Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu has been designated to serve on the Presidential Affairs committee as he starts a new journey as a legislator.

Kyagulanyi, also known as Bobi Wine, was appointed to the committee moments after taking oath undertaking to offer faithful service to parliament and defend and uphold the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda.

The Presidential Affairs Committee is tasked with assessing the functionality of the Office of the President, including State House, Kampala capital City Authority (KCCA) and Security organizations like the Internal and External Security Organizations.

Andrew Ajaa Baryayanga Independent MP for Kabale Municipality designated Bobi wine to the committee on behalf of the Speaker. The committee is chaired by Adjumani Woman MP Jessica Ababiku who takes over from Nyabushozi county MP Col Fred Mwesigye.

The 35-year-old artiste won the election held on July 29 where he contested as an Independent candidate and chose to carry his message as a grassroots voice championing issues of the common man.

He polled 25,659 votes, beating his challengers Sitenda Sebalu and Apollo Kantinti with a margin of more than 20,000 votes. The seat fell vacant after court nullified Apollo Kantinti's 2016 election citing irregularities in the process.

Earlier, Kyagulanyi told journalists at Parliament that his presence in parliament will focus more on fixing a country that is rotten with hopelessness and restore the hope of Ugandans in democratic processes.
