Members opposed to the amendment of article 102 (b) of the constitution have this afternoon put up a spirited fight using every item at their disposal, when security officials evaded the house to arrest them.

The development followed a 30 minute adjournment by Speaker Kadaga who had earlier suspended 24 legislators for disrupting the house during Tuesday’s sitting.

Those suspended include NRM’s Ronald Kibuule who was Tuesday accused of coming to the chambers with a gun. Also, Monica Amoding, and NRM legislator who identified with the opposing team was suspended.

Other suspended MPs are; Allan Ssewanyana, Sam Lyomoki, Betty Nambooze, Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine, Zaake Butebi, Ibrahim Kasozi, Willian Nzongu, Gilbert Olanya, Nsereko Muhammad, Angellina Ossege, Wilfred Niwagaba, Odonga Otto, Nandala Mafabi, Nambeshe, Mbwatekamwa, Mugume Roland, Tinkasiimire Barnabas, Gerald Karuhanga among others. These were all dragged out of the house like chicken thieves, inconsiderate of some being female legislators.

The MPs according to sources were all dragged into black police vans waiting outside the chambers. Some including Bobi Wine were driven to Kiira police while we are yet to ascertain their whereabouts.

The house is currently back in session, but opposition MPs led by leader of opposition Winnie Kiiza walked out in protest. “I don’t want to pretend that everything is business as usual” Winnie said, before leading her team out.

By publication time, Igara West MP Raphael Magyezi was tabling the motion.
