Trouble has once again befallen Francis Zaake the Member of Parliament for Mityana Municipality after the Directorate of Public Prosecution has ordered for his arrest. This is from the sanctioning of charges of escaping from Lawful custody and treason against him.

Today, Zaake was expected to appear at the CID offices in Kibuli but was a no show. His lawyers, hon. Medard Lubega Ssegona and Nicholas Opio told officers that their client was in the hospital seeking medical attention following the August 13th beating.

The treason charges stem from the arrest of the group members following the chaos that dominated the last day of campaigns ahead of the Arua Municipality by-election in August.

Zaake was arrested alongside Kyaddondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi, Gerald Karuhanga, Paul Mwiru, Kassiano Wadri among others for allegedly commanding a group of youths that attacked the president's motorcade with stones.

At least 33 people were arrested, while Zaake allegedly collapsed and was taken to Arua Referral Hospital for treatment. However, he reportedly escaped from the sick bed undetected and resurfaced at Lubaga Hospital in Kampala days later.

Zaake is now supposed to be arrested and taken to Arua Court for trial since the two charges are under the jurisdiction of Arua High Court.

Lawyers Ssegona and Opio were ordered by detectives to bring medical documents to support their argument that the MP was sick. They were however convinced when the letters presented showed that Zaake is undergoing physiotherapy at Lubaga Hospital.

Grace Akullo the Director of Criminal Investigation was by press time yet to decide on the request for a bond extension as Zaake gets medical attention.
