The electoral comission has officially cleared the establishment of a new political party, Alliance for National Transformation.

The party belongs to Rtd.Maj.Gen. Gregory Mugisha Muntu, fomer forum for Democratic change president. Gen. Muntu left FDC last year amid accusations of being a spy.

He announced a new formation which would later be accused of stealing FDC party members and causing confusion in the once Uganda's strongest opposition party.

Gen. Muntu has since been trying to register a new party of his own until yesterday Tuesday 19th March when the electoral comission cleared it.

According to a letter by Alice Alaso, the party convener, the next step is now to gazette the party, which they expect to do in the next few weeks and then make arrangements for an official launch.

While leaving FDC, Gen. Muntu said he had carried out grassroot consultations for 9 months and knew what Ugandans wanted. While many a people commended him for taking a bold step by leaving his former party, others saw him for a coward who did not defend self when branded a mole.

Currently, FDC is in a state of confusion amid fighting with people power youth, journalists and the usual police battles. Muntu is expected to make an announcement for his bid at the presidency during the party's official launch whose date is yet to be communicated.
