Police in Kampala have arrested the Kyadondo East Member of Parliament Robert Ssentamu Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.

Bobi Wine was arrested on his way to the Criminal Investigations Department head offices in Kibuli this morning.

According to one of his lawyers Asuman Basalirwa, the legislator was first taken to Jinja Road Police station in Kampala before being whisked to Naggalama police station.

Basalirwa says they still have no idea why Bobi was arrested yet, he had agreed to appear at CID and make a statement.

“He was removed the shoes, belt and all money he had and given them to me, but the officers here do not explain why he has been brought here. We are waiting to see what happens next. He was on his way to Kibuli when he was arrested. We do not know if the officers no longer want him to appear in Kibuli or he is going to make the statement from Naggalama” Basalirwa said.

Bobi’s trouble stems from Easter Monday when police canceled his Kyarenga extra concert at Busabala. He then called on masses to join him in walk to work protests, prompting the police to put him under house arrest to prevent any violent protests.

However, Bobi on Thursday managed to get away from his house and was then asked to go make a statement in Kibuli for inciting violence.
