Over 1000 members of the Uganda federal alliance UFA have abandoned their own fraternity and joined the people’s development party.
This morning, Dr. Abed Bwanika, the party presidential candidate in 2016 race welcomed the members led by the party spokesperson Ssenyonga Baker Byayi at Bativa Hotel in Kampala.
However, Betty Kamya, the UFA president recently went forward with Amama Mbabazi, leaving the party divided with the leadership claiming members are free to support a presidential candidate of their choice.
According to Mr. Ssenyonga, Kamya has personal interests in Mbabazi, something that could have prompted her to join his team, after UFA failed to field a presidential candidate in the 2016 race.
Dr. Bwanika says they will use their alliance with UFA to recruit 7 million Ugandans in order to win 2016 general elections. After welcoming the new defectors, Bwanika headed to Mukono for a rally this afternoon.
