The meeting between the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) and city DJs on Tuesday was characterized by angry outbursts, accusations, and counter-accusations about the working relationship between musicians and DJs.
The meeting, which was attended by UNMF President Eddy Kenzo and Vice President Sheebah Karungi, as well as several DJs, saw several Disc Jockeys complain about the mistreatment by musicians, assault and nonpayment by some top musicians.
One DJ directly accused Sheebah of using her services and later defaulting her. Sheebah later apologized with a promise of clearing him all his money.
The meeting also saw Sheebah and DJ Nimrod clash, with Sheebah accusing Nimrod of disrespecting her. Tempers flared as federation leaders tried to respond to the concerns raised by the DJs.
“I am the vice president here sir, have some respect. I am still talking, you keep interrupting me. We have been here listening to you silently, you should also be quiet and listen to me,” Sheebah shouted in DJ Nimrod’s face.
The UNMF later in the evening met with Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs Hon Nobert Mao, to discuss progress on the copyright law.
