Rapper Gravity Omutujju has always been criticized by a section of fans and hip hop artists who claim he lost focus on the genre.

Gravity has responded to the criticism by saying he left hip hop because it's for broke people and never pays in Uganda.

He believes dancehall and ragga come with lots of cash and bookings because they are consumed by a larger group of people compared to hip hop music.

"I don't want to be broke, and it's the reason I have kept doing what I do. I don't care whatever people call it because it's the one that pays bills. I don't want to die broke just because I am doing hip hop," he said in an interview with a local television station.

Gravity Omutujju is one of the most booked Ugandan artists.
