Celebrity preacher Prophet Elvis Mbonye has sparked debate by pledging to rescue government finances, a statement that has stirred up reactions online.
Mbonye made this pledge over the weekend while preaching to his followers, arguing that while the government ignored their spiritual guidance, it may listen to them now, as they are prepared to contribute financially.
"We shall bless as many as possible. Today, we’re considering asking the government of Uganda, 'How can we bless you?' Initially, we wanted to offer spiritual blessings, but now we’re prepared to go to them with money. Let’s see if they say no," he said.
Mbonye explained that his ministry has sufficient funds to support the government in various activities.
He asserted that no organization, entity, or association has more resources than his ministry, and they are ready to provide financial support.
"We’re prepared to fund any activities they want to undertake. No organization, entity, or association is larger than what’s happening here. We can accomplish anything they need. So we’ll approach them and ask, 'How can we help rescue your finances?'" Mbonye added.
The prophet believes that by supporting the government, people will draw closer to God and praise Him for the blessings they receive.
