Veteran musician Ronald Mayinja, who has been active in the music industry for over 20 years, is calling for greater public involvement in Ugandan music awards.

Reflecting on the days of the PAM Awards, Mayinja said the current award organizers could learn from them.

"The PAM Awards were very exciting at the time because they involved the public. People in markets and shops participated, and it created a buzz. I think the current award organizers should take a leaf from them and involve the audience," he said during a television interview.

Mayinja was commenting in relation to the recently organized HiPipo Awards.
