Musician Edirisa Musuuza, popularly known as Eddy Kenzo, has responded to Bobi Wine's New Year message to artists.

In his message, Bobi Wine once again referred to musicians as beggars and urged them to stop seeking handouts from General Salim Saleh, calling such actions disrespectful.

"He is disrespectful. You saw what he did to Omulangira Suuna. I warned you that these people will make you beggars, and you will end up being despised by those who genuinely support you. For them, they are oppressors, exploiting local Ugandans who have supported you as artists because your songs resonate with their struggles," Bobi Wine said while addressing journalists.

Eddy Kenzo has now hit back at Bobi Wine, accusing him of being selfish and not caring about the well-being of musicians.

Kenzo criticized Bobi Wine for failing to address the copyright law when he was a Member of Parliament, claiming that he only cared about his salary.

He also accused Bobi Wine of denying Jose Chameleone the NUP party ticket when he wanted to contest against Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago and mocked Ronald Mayinja's return to opposition politics.

"Bobi Wine doesn't care about our well-being, and he doesn't wish anything good for artists. He was in Parliament and didn’t do anything for us. He didn’t even table the copyright law. He also denied Chameleone the ticket and even laughed off Mayinja's return to opposition politics. He is not a good man," Eddy Kenzo said during an interview with a local television station.

As the President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation, Kenzo believes that fostering a good working relationship with the government will help secure freedom for musicians, particularly through the amendment of the copyright law.
