Last week, musician Ibrahim Mayanja, also known as Big Eye, announced his intention to contest for the Nansana Municipality MP position.

He plans to run on the National Unity Platform (NUP) party ticket.

Since his announcement, the singer has faced massive backlash from various people, with many questioning his competence and others claiming that he lacks the ability to express himself in the Queen’s language.

However, he has dismissed these allegations, stating that Parliament is not about speaking English but about service delivery, which will be his main focus.

"Parliament is not all about speaking English. It’s about delivering services to the people. The people need proper representation and service delivery, and that’s where I am going to put my emphasis when I enter the Parliament of Uganda," he explained in an interview with a local YouTuber.

Big Eye, however, will have to face stiff competition within his party before securing the NUP ticket. He will have to battle it out with the incumbent, Wakayima Musoke, NBS TV’s Zambali Bulasio Mukasa, and a candidate named Serukuma John Bosco.
