Musician Kalifah Aganaga has stepped forward and announced his candidacy. He is contesting for the Kawempe North MP position on the FDC ticket, aiming to replace Muhammad Ssegirinya.
The singer has revealed that he draws inspiration from NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine. He says Bobi Wine's political career influenced him to join politics and strengthened his commitment to making a positive change.
"As a resident of Kawempe, I have always wanted to improve the situation in the area. Hon. Kyagulanyi’s decision to contest inspired me greatly, reinforcing my commitment to making a positive change," he explained in an interview with a local television station.
Kalifah Aganaga adds that he has always desired to work for the good of the people since childhood and believes this is the right time to do so.
"My desire to serve my people began when I was young. I have visited 20 countries, and God blessed me with success at an early age. I have seen the good things they enjoy, and it pains me to see my country lagging behind," he adds.
The Kawempe North by-election will take place on the 13th of March this year, according to the program released by the Electoral Commission.
