On Thursday this week, the Kawempe North constituency will head to the polls to elect its Member of Parliament.

Musician Kalifah Aganaga is among the contestants, representing the FDC party.

Speaking ahead of the vote, Kalifah Aganaga expressed confidence in his chances and believes the residents of Kawempe North will entrust him with power.

"I am confident of victory because I have been to every part of Kawempe North, and the voters have assured me of their support. I believe they will turn up at the polling stations on Thursday and cast their votes for me," he explained.

Kalifah Aganaga is competing for the position against NUP’s Elias Nalukoola, NRM’s Faridah Nambi, and several independent candidates, including Segirinya’s former political assistant, Alex Luwemba Luswa.

The by-election is being held to replace Muhammad Segirinya, who passed away in January this year after a long battle with illness.
