Media personality Shafik Kayima made headlines on the 13th of this month in Kawempe North when he was spotted alongside security operatives.

This was the day when the by-elections took place in Kawempe North, and a number of journalists were beaten up.

In a video posted by musician Big Eye online, Shafik Kayima is seen in serious discussions with security operatives as they go about their work.

His discussion with them made many believe he is a security operative.

He has since denied being a security operative and says he is only focused on doing his journalistic job.

"I am not a security operative, and not even their agent. I am a journalist, media personality, and I didn't coordinate with security operatives during election day," he explained in an interview with local YouTuber Eddie Sendi during the Talk and Talk show.

The Joint Anti-Terrorism Task Force has been at the forefront of the Kawempe by-elections.

During campaigns, they endlessly beat up NUP's Elias Nalukoola, his supporters, and the journalists were never as well spared.
