After a brief Christmas lull, the winter transfer market at the English Premier League is back to the rush-hour-traffic mode. Talent hunters and team owners are talking not just about new players, but about coaches as well. Here are the latest transfer rumours of the EPL in a nutshell.
Sonogo out, Cavani in
Arsenal is planning to loan out their tyro striker Yaya Sanogo to Bordeaux. The French striker, who did well for the national Under 21 team, has not lived up to the fans’ expectations at Arsenal. He is not getting many first team opportunities at the moment. There have been rumours linking him with a move to other premier league clubs, for instance, Crystal Palace. Now, Bordeaux has emerged as the most realistic destination for the young French striker.
While Sanogo is on his way out, the Gunners have moved a step closer to bringing in Edinson Cavani from Paris Saint Germain. The Uruguayan striker has not been included in PSG’s warm weather training camp. So, you can expect a deal in the early stages of January transfer window.
Is Saido Berahino Liverpool-bound?
Liverpool looks like winning the race to sign West Brom striker Saido Berahino. Tottenham was the front runners in this particular race. It is learnt that West Brom is asking a hefty £25 million for the in-form English striker. That sum put the Spurs on the back foot. Liverpool is so desperate that they may not mind paying £25million to a striker who can actually score goals, particularly after having spent more than that amount for bringing in goalless wonders to the club in recent times.
Coaches get a move on
Newcastle coach Allan Pardew is a gnarled veteran in coaching. He has his admirers and he has his haters. Some of his admirers are surely in Crystal Palace. Palace has reportedly invited Pardew to become its coach. If the move realizes, he will get the twice the salary he is drawing at present in Newcastle.
If Pardew does leave, the Magpies will have to find a new coach. Some reports suggest that former Stoke City and Crystal Palace coach Tony Pulis could be that man. A long shot is the current Newcastle defender Fabricio Coloccini.
