The terrorist attack killed more than 25 and injuried at least 17
A suicide bomber detonated an explosives belt during the Wednesday prayer at a mosque in Umurari area of Maiduguri, Borno state capital. According to preliminary data, up to 25 Muslim worshippers were killed and 17 injuried during the attack.
An emergency services worker said that a bomb exploded early in the morning shortly after people started praying.
Meanwhile, Daily Trust reports a twin suicide bombing: “A female suicide bomber disguised as a man detonated one inside the mosque while another waited outside. When people came for rescue, the other one detonated her own outdoor, killing more people.”
The attack is believed to have been carried out by members of the Islamist group Boko Haram.
