Joanne Wonders Mbonye also known as Jojo Wan is a Ugandan Gospel Singer, Songwriter and Vocalist. Jojo Wan's musical journey started at a young age and her gospel roots quite naturally – she sang at All saints church and grew up in a Christian family that all served in this church.
At home, her mother was often found listening to worship, praise, and country music. In a full-circle moment, Jojo’s latest album thank you is derived from a personal experience after her sister survived lymphoma cancer .
She made a vow to forever serve and sing praise of the great things God has done in her life. Gospel is an incredible acknowledgement of both undisputedly authentic influences. She draws her inspirations from the late Elly Wamala, Choir director Andrew Zzake, Pastor Brian Ddumba, Sheryl Caesar, Bebe and Cece Winans.
Jojo is a “worshipper first.” She is sure about her purpose and intentional about focus. She launched her solo singing career in 2017, after serving as Worshiper for several years at All Saints church . Greater things were ahead for this passionately committed Singer whose purpose in life is to “always bring awareness to the presence of God.
“My music gives me an opportunity to do something that changes people’s lives from the inside out. Few career choices can do that. I minister to hearts, minds and souls,” she says gratefully.
She has Collaborated with artists as diverse and Common like Daddy Andre and Nina Roz to prove that she’s not afraid to take on new challenges.
She is a savvy entrepreneur heading up several businesses including Wan Base Afrique and Family Grain Masters Ltd
