Mr Raa is an alias of Muyinda Ramah a 27 year old Ugandan cityzen born on 4th May at the hill of Mulago one of the popular surbubs in Kampala. He was raised from a family of 12 children i.e 10 boys and two girl and comes as the second last born. His passion for music can be drawn from the elder brothers and his father who was associated and worked with the legendary Afrigo Band.
As a young boy at Kitante Primary School he was one of the two boys that represented the school in cultural music and dance competitions since the rest were female and this can explain why he has mantained to be among the energetic and good to watch entertainers on any given stage. To add on his early musical experience, he later joined Reach Out Primary School where he was part of the school and church choirs and also played in the church band as a drummer among senoir players.
He later joined Busoga College Mwiri for O-Level where he met one of the Directors at FaceTv Mr.PJ who they together were popular for dancing to Jamaican music easily relating them to Beanie man, Elephant man and Shaggy, amoong others. In 2004 he joined Ntinda View College with his friend PJ and by the time they completed O-Level everyone including staff members and students reffered to the duo as Benon & Vampos since they would perform their music not missing a word in the lyrics.
While in his vaccation, Mr Raa recorded his first single titled "Ye nze" literally meaning "This is me". It was written by himself with the help of his elder brother Hark(R.I.P) and produced by Denno at NO END studio in 2005. However the song was never released due to the pressure and discouragment to his big brother who happened to be the sponsor by their parents. On learning about this, Mr Raa told his parents he didnt want to go for A-level insisting he wanted to do music but was later convinced by the mother with promises of supporting him in the music as soon as he completes and passes his final High school exams. He went to Kisuubi High School and was later joined by PJ who gave him moral to stay in school and since it was a private institution there were oopportunities provided for talent development. The late AK47 a brother to Uganda's most celebrated artist JOSE CHAMELEON also joined the school and this gave them more exposurer to the outside world. He then changed to Mashariki and completed his senior 6 at Midland High Shool where he excelled both academically and musically. Midland is a place for any young ambitious child with a close to perfect cirricuum. Education there for Mr Raa was books,sports,music,dance,church,art&design, mention most activities. He was on the basketball,badmitton and table tennis school teams evident with certificates and a celebrity who wrote and performed his original rap compositions. He also wrote songs with his Tanzanian friend Kabaisa.
In 2008, after recieving the goodnews of the final exam in Feb he was promised an audio and video to kick start his carrer by his brother Hark who became deceased on 12th-March-2008 putting the whole family to a blow and setback, however in May 2008, Mr Raa recorded his first single ISABELLA written by himself,edited by Vampino and produced by Benon at Swangz Avenue. The love song enjoyed airplay on radio,in clubs and among youth with the help of his friend PJ who distributed it and performed alongside him on every given opportunity and by November 2008 he got a mega deal. He was signed by Cas de Ras Entertainment with other renown artists like Ziggy Dee,Survivor of the NewsBeat,EddyGray of GalaxyFm,Margla,Empress J,Keiza&Sheiza,Diana Kyomuhendo a fomous actress,Producer Jonty and Hyperman. As u can notice it was a big company and was later run by Mr Castar a businessman and two Nigerians Mr.Kojo and Mr.Romeo. This was a dream come true and glory was to God and thanks to a true friend Sheiza who asked me to go along with him to the auditions where my audio stood out of the rest for being proffessionally produced and competitive with the current market.
Isabella video was directed and shot by Twist & Alex of TANK & Dedac Films in January 2009 and released after a month. Since it was under a company, marketing was easy and the video made it to the EastAfrican Tv count down as well as a wide coverage in Uganda. This is how Mr Raa is introduced to the Ugandan and East African market. It should be noted that his mother had secured him an admittion at Uganda Christian University and was awaiting to join the January semester to pursue Law. Now this became his biggest challenge, yes the admittion was available but also the company contract was running and this became a trying time however he made the best decission by joining university and not alerting the company which gave him a way of buying time and balance both carrers. This didnot take long since both music and education need full time attention and as a result he had to put the books on hold and give more time to the music.
While under Cas de Ras Mr Raa gained more popularity and experience through various performances, collaborations, interviews and travelling around the country. He recorded songs like Ole, Tell dem, Dance, A we com' a remix with Kieza&Sheiza,among others at Peak Jam Records, Delight Studios and Mask studio. In 2010, Cas de Ras company stopped operating and his contract automatically ended and with his experience, there were many options for him and he chose to join Swangz Avenue, however since he didnot sign a contract with Swangz he decided to finish his degree and and remained as a back up of Vampino. In 2011 after settling in Law school, he went back to studio and recorded Ntaawa with Just Joze at Swangz Avenue and the video shot by TANK which kept him in the market. He recorded more songs in different studios like Catch a fire, Gal, Muliwa,and in October,2011 he was booked to perform in Sweden alongside Vampino, JmaesB and MichealRoss which expanded his fan base.
He has so far recorded one album titled I AM RAA which was not released and many other singles to follow. He also worked with Kiwundo Entertainment which he joined in 2014 and in 2015 performed in 3 towns of Italy with two of the shows attended by over 5000 people. He has collaborated with Gift of Khaddo, Tk Lady, SlowBurn, Lannez, Vampino, Max Care, Y.ATA, Candy, NormanKayz, Andre, and manymore to come. Some of the songs are released are Believer, Love to dance,Gulawo,Omudidi,Ompomera,Rock u,Kiss me,Anyilila,BadBoy,Amnesia,OnFire,SweetLove,So Hot.
His currently starting up his own Record Label "COHE RECORDS" and working on his first commercial album titled L.E. (LEGAL ENTERTAINER) and will feature both local, regional and international artists and instrumentalists. His also putting together a band to up grade his live performances and compete on the international scene.
