When you are raised by a single mum who’s only credentials are hard work and a stubborn resolve to see all her 13 children through school, you risk being marked for life as a strong believer in the power of resilience in overcoming resistance.

This upbringing gave me the hunger which draws me to people. It pushes me to get close and intimate in order to tap into the strength and weaknesses of fellow sojourners. Sometimes to help them along. Sometimes to be helped by them.

I believe that hunger has influenced my career choices. I studied Mass Communication at Makerere University, pursued a Masters in Journalism at the University of Oslo, and undertook a postgraduate diploma in Education at the same institution.

This schooling has helped me chase after my passion: people and their life’s journey.

I have done this as a broadcast journalist in Uganda, and as an educator in Norway.

My mother’s story persuaded me to believe in the great strength and resources that reside in mothers, sometimes untapped, many times unsung. That inspiration is the drive behind my debut as a recording artist in the song Maama.

Whether I am in my native town of Busia in Uganda, or my current residence in Oslo, I constantly encounter the beauty and strength of the human spirit in the people I meet daily.
