AKESO SHIRLEY commonly known as SHIRLEY MAY is a Ugandan musician born on 25th July. SHIRLEY MAY chose HIP HOP genre of music because of her love and passion for the hip hop style of music. Before all that, Shirley May was a dancer way back from childhood to high school where she got the nick name “CIARA” due to her love of dancing and way of dancing and she also participated in dance competitions that led to her joining a dance group called EXTREME MEDIA DANCE GROUP and many others.
Her persistent love for music inspired her to pursue her music career and in 2014 she recorded her first single HOLY MUSIC with producer JT of YEGO Productions but she did not promote it because of school pressures and other business issues that held her up and did not favor her music career then. However, in 2016 SHIRLEY MAY professionally hit the music studios and released Grinding On and Weekend Party produced by Producer KingzLuvin of CHORD Flow studios, Tusula Ku Mwezi being her latest single produced by Nase Avatar of Portbell Drive Music and many other projects with different music producers. Currently Shirley May is an independent artiste not signed up to any record label.
Shirley May also featured in the Uganda Hip Hop Bootcamp IV in 2016 which took place in Fort Portal for two weeks alongside artists like Mc Ivy, Mc O. Kreezy, Crazie Wispa, PCY and many others and was organized by Bayimba International Festival featuring tutors like GNL Zamba, Sylvester Kabombo, Navio, Lady Slyke, Kas Kasozi, Ian Kagimbo and many others. She also got the opportunity to work with different producers such as Kas Kasozi, Skinny, Charlie Pro and worked on different songs such as Female Hustle featuring Mc Ivy and Kaytons Mc produced by Kaz Kasozi, Family featuring Gibbon Mc and DMC Viniikizo produced by Kaz Kasozi of Little room studio, Keep it real featuring Kaytons Mc and Dizzy Kristu produced by Skinny of Infint3 studio and a Bootcamp Cipher Gimme the way produced by Charlie Pro of Infint3 Studio.
