Try (real name Mark Okello) is an upcoming Ugandan Singer-songwriter who recently released his first single “Kodak” which was closely followed by “All thru”. Try was born in Lira- northern Uganda but at the age of eight his family moved to the city - Kampala and Two years later relocated to Mukono where he spent the better part of his life.

Education wise, he went to St Francis Primary school Ntinda-Kigoowa and later moved to Buddo Junior School from where he sat his Primary Leaving Examination. He then went on to study his O’ Level from Seroma Christian High School in Mukono before moving to Kyambogo College where he accomplished his Advanced Level of Education.
Currently he is in his final semester at Uganda Christian University pursuing a bachelor’s degree in procurement and logistics management.

Being born in a Christian rooted family, Try was exposed to the concept of singing at an early age as praise and worship songs always surrounded him at church, fellowships and home. He didn’t however directly engage in public singing but this environment truly imprinted a singing mark on him. It wasn’t until the age of 16 when his Dad bought him a guitar for his birthday that he starting envisioning himself as a recording artist someday. As he slowly picked up the skills of playing the guitar, he was able to enhance his writing abilities and this further fueled his interest in music.

With the high level of commitment education demands, he felt it wouldn’t be wise to engage in the music industry early as it as well comes with its demands which would compromise his education. Being in his final semester currently, he felt it is the right time to indulge in one of his biggest passions – music, and as a result he released his first single “Kodak” at the end of September 2014. This was closely followed by another single titled “All thru” which came out in early October 2014. Both songs are produced by D.KING from Neutriq Town in Ntinda.
