Born Helliot Opyem, U-TAN is a Ugandan Music Recording and performing artist, songwriter, composure, Businessman and Humanitarian. He originally hails from Alur in Zombo District Northern Uganda. 
Introduced to Church choir of his local Parish by his Music loving Dad at a young age, U-TAN carried on the legacy and led a successful high School Choir and MDD group. He spent most of his childhood composing and writing songs. A graduate of Kyambogo University (Bsc Accounting & Finance), U-TAN maintained his passion for music and started his professional music career in 2011. With his high school friend Foster, he recorded his first songs with the legendary Ogopa Dee jayz of Nairobi Kenya. 
U-TAN released his first single "Babe come 2me", an afro Dance hall & R$B track in 2011 and it received massive airplays on TV Stations in Uganda and around East Africa. In 2014, he released “Amiti” recorded at Fenon Records and the video short by NUFACE Studios. The video received substantial airplay in Uganda and parts of TZ. “Amiti” Video went on #2 on the then hotly contested Record TV Katogo count down show. 
For personal reasons, U-TAN took a break from active recording and performing in 2015. Meeting celebrated Producers Bojo Killer of 360 Music and Andy Music of Steam Production influenced U-TAN to active recording and performing again. He’s currently working on a number of projects with the 2 Producers including producing an album inspired by the first Alur Novel “Kata Mang’c Uwangu Izaku” by Ucamgiu Christopher.
