Sadness has filled Watoto Church family after 11 of their members, mostly belonging to children choir, tested positive for Coronavirus.
According to Dr. Henry Mwebesa the Director General Ministry of Health, the 11 individuals were all under institutional quarantine after flying back from United Kingdom, these include;
A 29 year old Ugandan female resident of Kyanja, Nakawa who is a contact to one of the previously confirmed cases, a 27 year old Ugandan male resident of Mpererwe, Wakiso who arrived from the United Kingdom, a 9 year old Ugandan female resident of Suubi Watoto village who arrived from U.K.
The others are; a 7 year old Ugandan female resident of Suubi Watoto village who arrived from the U.K, a 30 year old Ugandan male resident of Kisaasi Kampala who arrived from the U.K, a 10 year old female resident of Suubi Watoto village who arrived from U.K, a 9 year old Ugandan male resident of Biira village Wakiso who arrived from the U.K, an 8 year old Ugandan male resident of Suubi Watoto village who arrived from the U.K, a 27 year old Ugandan female resident of Kavule, Makerere who arrived from the U.K and a 26 year old male resident of Katabi, Wakiso.
The confirmation of these 11 cases brings the total number of cases to 44. However, minister of health Jane Ruth Aceng says the other 33 are stable. Uganda has not been fortunate to have a case that has recovered.
1,015 people are under follow up and under institutional quarantine, while a total of 660 contacts to the confirmed cases are also under follow up.
In the neighboring Democratic Republic of case, 11 new cases were confirmed on Tuesday, with 1 new death recorded. This brings the number of confirmed cases to 109 confirmed, 9 deaths and 3 recoveries.
Also, Burundi confirmed its first two cases.
Here at home, President Yoweri Museveni announced a lockdown and curfew starting every day at 7:00PM until 6am to minimize the spread of COVID19 that has killed 42,344 people and left 860,106 sick.
