The ministry of health has received more than fifty-seven billion seventy-six million seven hundred five thousand (57,076,705,000) Ugandan Shillings from well-wishers to fight the novel Corona Virus.

The ministry received the help in cash while the other came in form of physical supplies like gloves, masks and other medical supplies.

Some of the companies that have lent a hand did so, after President Yoweri Museveni discouraged Ugandan elites and politicians from going to communities and meeting up people in groups, in the name of giving them support through the lock down, today being day 7.

The president was especially disappointed in politicians that would attract crowds in the name of distributing food. He threatened to arrest and charge them with attempted murder. This is because the disease is spread through being in proximity to an infected person and inhaling droplets generated when they cough or sneeze, or touching a surface where these droplets land and then touching one's face or nose.

The virus has now spread to at least 183 countries and territories.

The disease has killed more than 66,500 people and infected more than 1.2 million, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University as of Sunday 6th April 2020.
President Museveni in his different addresses asked companies and individuals who wanted to offer any sort of help to do so through the ministry of health or OPM that is in charge of food relief suppliy.

Now, companies that have come through include; Seyani Brothers which has donated UGX 50 Million to the COVID-19 response in Uganda, World Bank diverted 15 Million dollars from Reproductive Maternal and Child Health Services Improvement Project Funds to CoronaVirus and SCD Uganda Ltd who contributed 200 Million Shillings.

The ministry also received 30,000 pairs of gloves from Uganda Association of External Recruitment Agencies (UAERA)

Stabex donated Gas cylinders worth 20 million for health workers and health facilities, 200 mattresses from Sprout Capital Investments and 3 spray pumps that are used to disinfect health facilities, quarantine centers, cars and ambulances donated by Echo.

Other well-wishers include; BRAC Uganda who donated 7,000 bars of soap, Crown beverages donated 100 cartons of Nivana water for quarantine and health centers and 20 million shillings, Vivo energy donated 60 million shillings cash, fuel worth 50 million and medical supplies worth 10 million as well as Abacus Parenteral Drugs Limited (apdl) who donated the Medical supplies.
