Two people died on the spot last night when a lorry truck they were travelling in along the Kabale –Mbarara road swerved off the road.
According to reports, the unfortunate incident happened at around 8:30pm, when the trailer registration number RAB159L/RL0879 swerved off the road and rolled several times at Nkumbura Trading centre about 20 kilometers from Kabale town killing its driver and his turn boy on spot.
Residents narrate that the accident was as a result of a high speed at which the trailer was moving.
Kigezi Regional Police Spokesperson Elly Maate explains that the vehicle was loaded with raw materials used in production of cooking oil to the Rwandan capital Kigali, from Kenya, and differs with residents, claiming the accident was caused by brake failure.
The bodies of the dead were taken to Kabale regional referral hospital where they are awaiting identification.
