Lives of two children and a boda boda motorist have been cut short after a boda boda they were riding on was hit by a speeding bus.

Another child was critically injured in the same unfortunate incident in Alebtong district.

Police identifies the deceased children as Cissy Akello, a primary four pupil of Rima Primary School in Lira, her brother, Denis Odoch, a senior two student of Buluge Comprehensive Secondary School and Francis Angom, a boda boda motorist.

The injured is a three and half-year-old child at Rima Nursery School, a sibling of the two other children. The three are children of Charles Aogwok, a resident of Aloi in Alebtong district. The accident occurred at about 1:45pm in Angweta-angwet just in front of Rima primary school along the Lira -Soroti highway.

David Ongom Mudong, the North Kyoga Police spokesperson, says the three children were riding on a boda boda motorcycle from Aloi in Alebtong district on the way to their respective when they were crashed a bus registration number UAU 420 V belonging to Rock Transporters Company.

According to Ongom, the accident occurred when the Gulu bound bus veered off the road and knocked the victims. Preliminary police findings black the accident on speeding on the part of the bus driver. The bodies of the deceased and injured are at Lira Regional Referral hospital. 

Police also impounded the bus leaving more than 60 passengers on board stranded.
