A terminally ill Sheebah Karungi fan has had her dying wish granted of meeting her most admired singer.
Alice Nankinga, who was diagonised with Cancer and told by her doctor she only had two weeks to live, attended the ‘Comedy Store’ show -- hosted by Alex Muhangi every Thursday -- where Sheebah was set to perform ... for a chance to meet the singer before she dies.
Sheebah took to the stage after the comedians' performances and entertained the audience with songs like ‘Wadda wa’, ‘Nkwatako’, ‘Twesana’, ‘Tunywe’, ‘Otubatisa’, ‘Farmer’ and ‘Omulembe’.
As soon as Sheebah completed her last song, Alex Muhangi invited the singer's dying fan to the stage where she releaved that she has always craved to meet her.
“Sheebah I love you so much. I was home moments ago with my sister when I learnt that you are performing here at Diners tonight. I had to come because I have always craved to meet you,” Nankinga said
According to Chimpreports, the 20 year old MUBS student was diagnosed with cancer (malignant teratoma) and has two tumors in her waist causing her extreme pain.
“I was diagnosed with cancer, and the doctor recently told me I have only two weeks to live. I came here tonight so I can meet you before I die.”
A wave of grief suddenly descended on what had minutes ago been a loud, cheery and excited audience. There was hush, followed with a reaction of empathy.
Amid all the emotions, the overwhelmed musician couldn’t help but cry before replying;
“This feels very terrible and emotional for me. But I am also pleased to hear what I mean to you.” She said;
“It’s always sad to hear about death but the reality is – we are all going to face it as some point.”
“What would you like me to do for you now that you’ve met me? Which of my songs can I sing for you tonight?” Sheebah asked after embracing Nankinga with a long, warm hug.
“I really don’t need much from you apart from singing me ‘Nkwatako’. You could as well leave me with something that belongs to you. Your jacket,” the short and rather slim girl replied. Her physical appearance isn’t one that depicts what she is battling on the inside.
Sheebah didn’t hesitate to offer her jacket before she sat Nankinga down and sang her a raw version of her popular hit ‘Nkwatako’. One after the other, people from the audience made way to the stage making financial donations to the sick girl. Even Sheebah herself later emptied all her pockets of whichever money she had been earlier given. Occasionally, hugging her newly found admirer.
At this point, everyone was standing, singing along to the popular gospel song ‘I know who I am’ song by Sinachi.
This was no ordinary show for the host either. Alex Muhangi too was gripped by the depressing events and chose to lead a prayer of healing upon Nankinga.
