Early this morning, Ugandans woke up in shock news Sylvia Namutebi aka Maama Fiina’s hubby Sheik Maj. Mohammed Kiggundu was shot dead by unknown assailants as he made his way to a local Pearl radio station where he has been a panelist.
According to one of the theories and the most believable one is;
Who was Major Muhammad Kiggundu?
Major Kiggundu was one of the former ADF rebels who was granted pardon by the government with the late Hassan Kirya, Sheikh Yunus Kamoga the Tabliqs leader who is in prison now among others.
Later major Kiggundu decided to join UPDF and his colleagues remained as sheikhs at Nakasero and other Tabliqs mosques in the country.
Major kigundu continued doing the work of a sheikh where he preached at some Juma prayers, at Nakasero mosque. Later the Tabliqs got conflicts and a group of sheikhs including Hassan Kirya, Haruna Jemba, Major Kiggundu , Sheikh Mustapha Bahiga and others all took refuge at Kibuli under Prince Kassim Nakibinge, defying sheikh Kamoga's leadership as the Amirul Ummah and that is when shooting of Muslim sheikhs intensified.
Major Muhammad Kiggundu and his escort sergeant Steven Mukasa were this morning shot dead along Masanafu road.
Meanwhile, Andrew Felix Kaweesi, spokesperson of the police force said that this is another victim of Muslim murder cases.
He said; “Major Kiggundu is another victim of Muslim murder cases. ADF is still using it’s mercenaries to murder people.” He also added that all Sheikhs who were given security to maximize it.
