For starters, how often do you hit the gym?

I have actually never hit the gym. I guess I am too blessed because my father was a skinny man so I guess I get it from him. I am trying to hit the gym soon to gain some weight, work on my biceps, six pack and legs. But again it is also good to be healthy.

But how do you keep that body?

I wake up early to run a lot of errands, drop my kids to school, drive to the city, go to radio. I don’t just sit in one place. That is what keeps me in shape.

You have mentioned radio, Tell us about your experience?

It is amazing. I have learnt different things I didn’t know, my self-esteem went from 100%-250%. I have become more confident.

Judith heard at Touch FM

That must be challenging though, especially at the start?

Yeah, especially talking to yourself knowing there is someone outside that has to tune in just because Judith Heard is going to be on air and talking to people you don’t see but with time I started loving it.

Isn't tough for a mother like you?

My family comes first of course. One needs to have priorities and see what comes first and what is more important. Of course my family is more important and my kids. I wake up very early to drop them to school go back home, stay around, speak to my husband see what he has been up to with work. Around 2pm go to radio for preps and my husband sometimes picks the kids from school. Go on air at 7pm and at 9pm I am home.

So you share the responsibility of picking up the kids from school with your husband?

Yes when he is around and when he is not I have to delay to get to radio.

Speaking about your radio career, you are known more for modeling?

Modeling was back in the days but now not really. Now don’t really do it that much, I may do it for a friend or a big company that is going to pay me money but not something I am focused on right now. I am more into radio and charity and raising my kids.

But why did you retire from modeling so early?

Three children are not actually something easy to handle so when I had twins plus my husband. It is not easy to handle twins; I also have to take care of myself. So I had to cut off on certain things I have to do.

But did it have to be modeling? Really?

Of course, because I was not getting paid the money that I wanted, my husband is taking care of me giving me all the things that I want. Modeling had to be one thing that I cut out because it involved travelling and needs a lot of time. I cut it off to focus on the family. Now I am back but I need a bigger deal and not these small jobs, like fashion shows. It has to be something worth leaving my family for at least a day.

So how has having twins changed your personality?

It has made me a better person, responsible, proud and I feel better about myself. I had never seen a young nalongo until I had the twins, not even my age-mates and I still look good even after them. Growing up, I thought nalongos have to be fat women.

Speaking about your husband here, I guess you are talking about Dr Alex?

Yes of course, who else? You people have made me look like a single mother but seriously if I divorced I would let you know because I will have to get into a new relationship. I will tell you this is my new man. But for now I am married to my husband.

Judith Heard and her beautiful twins

You mean there has never been a divorce or an attempt?

No we still live in the same house, I still have my cars,

How about this news making rounds that he is married in Kenya?

If he was, I would not be wearing his ring. I call him dakitari see how many times he called yesterday! Twice. Not everyone would figure out who it is but if I put Dr Alex, anyone who picks up my phone will know who it is until now that you know.

So why a white man over a black man. Where is the difference?

Men are the same. It is just how one is raised. I don’t see any difference between a black and a white guy.

How about emotionally?

Men handle things differently depending on how they were raised. One man could so emotional, loving, lovey-dovey, touchy and another would love you so much but won’t show affection in public.

So what is so special about Dr Alex?

We dated and he treated me so special in a way that no one had treated me, he educated me, taught me so many different things that I had not learnt or heard from anybody else. Above all, he gave me love, care and a beautiful family.

Lately so many girls around town want to become models. What is your say?

I would tell them not to because it is not easy. If they gave them my shoes to walk one mile I don’t think they can handle. I would advise them to grow up and be better than Judith Heard. I have made mistakes in life that I regret today but I have also learnt from them. They should take their time and go to school because I dropped out which is something I regret.

What was the inspiration behind the cancer campaign?

One of my friends got diagnosed with cancer at an early stage so she got treatment and was declared cancer-free last month. I got me so scared that I didn’t ask what cancer it was. We want to create awareness so people can go out there and test.

How tricky was starting the campaign?

I am the patron of RED women foundation, an organization that takes care of children and mothers with HIV/AIDS. They have a list of campaigns that should run each year so we picked cancer. It was successful and we are planning to go to rural areas to raise awareness. In villages if it is not malaria it is witchcraft yet it could be cancer like some woman in Gulu.
