Last week, NTV’S Sheila Nduhukire was the first news reporter to set up an interview with the first lady Janet Museveni. The interview has caused tension and controversy in the NTV newsroom as senior workers felt undermined.
Fast forward, Sheila is well connected to the state. Her Dad is a Reverend and is from the same area local council code with the first lady. She is the only one in the NTV newsroom that can report about statehouse issues. She is a personal friend to the first son Gen. Muhoozi. Combining all this, she had the better chance interviewing the first lady.
Sources at the Serena based station revealed to us the senior workers are threatening to quit if this continues. They were not impressed by the way Sheila was asking questions during the interview with the First lady. They left that she would have gotten more from the first lady since they rarely get such exclusive interviews from the first Lady. They further allege that Sheila was intimidated as Janet took control of the whole interview.
This has also caused a big debate among the workers of NTV as to why Sheila is always doing all the big projects yet she recently joined. For the record, Sheila has interviewed Muhoozi Kainerugaba; she covered the Somalia war conflict and now Janet Museveni. Senior Veteran Journalists are not taking it lightly.

NTV Journalists Who Would Have Done Interviewed The First Lady Much Better Than Sheila
Simon Kasatye
Simon Kasatya is well experienced. He would have fired better questions to the first lady. He is composed and very intelligent. He knows when and what questions to ask.
Charles Mwanguhya Mpagi
Charles is the current best senior journalist who can handle such big people. There is no way Sheila would have been picked over Charles.
Patrick Kamara
Patrick Kamara is well travelled, experienced in interviewing and moderating such big shows and interviews. He times his questions well. He would have done a better job than Sheila Nduhukire.
Junior Reporters Who Also Would Have Done Better Than Sheila
Sudhir Byaruhanga and Josephine Karungi
These two are good at reporting national news. They are good at firing timely questions. They would have done better. They also feel they were under looked.
Maurice Mugisha Is The Guy Behind Sheila Project
In the NTV newsroom, workers who are not satisfied, have created a project and named it ‘Sheila Nduhukire project’. They want answers from the bosses on why it is always Sheila on very CRITICAL ISSUES instead of senior reporters. We have also learnt that head of news at NTV, Maurice Mugisha is the one behind Sheila Project. He likes her so much to the extent that she connected her to state operatives (call them sources)
