Band artiste turned Member of Parliament, Geoffrey Lutaaya, has cautioned music fans and fellow artists against investing their hope in him to front challenges faced by the music industry.
After swearing-in on Wednesday, Lutaaya was asked whether he has plans to table issues concerning the industry to which he responded, "I was sent to parliament by the people of Kakuuto. Even though I am a musician, I don’t think our issues can be solved on the floor of parliament right now. For now, I believe the musician through their association need to build a strong foundation and create a channel through which they can be helped.”
Oftentimes, musicians blame colleagues who go to parliament and fail to say anything about the industry.
Musicians who were sent to parliament before are; Bobi Wine, Judith Babirye, Kato Lubwama, and others.
