New shocking details have emerged regarding the abrupt cancellation of Alien Skin's Nkwacho festival. The events promoter, Abitex, had been tirelessly promoting the festival for over two months, with plans for it to take place on the 27th of this month at Bulooba Forest Park.
However, just last week, Alien Skin stunned everyone by revealing that the festival would not proceed as originally announced. In a surprising turn of events, Alien attributed the festival's cancellation to Abitex's self-serving motives, accusing him of prioritizing personal enrichment over the well-being of the artists involved.
During an interview with a local YouTuber, Alien Skin expressed his frustration, stating,
"Nkwacho festival has been halted temporarily because I am unwilling to collaborate with promoters who are solely driven by monetary gain. These promoters are not concerned about my welfare; they simply want to exploit my talents for their own benefit."
Recent revelations indicate that Abitex had offered Alien Skin a sum of 20 million Ugandan shillings for his participation, yet the Sitya danger artist demanded a higher compensation.
The ongoing disputes between Abitex and Alien Skin created an opportunity for alternative promoters to step in and negotiate with the artist for the same event. These other promoters pledged to offer substantially higher payments, which caught Alien's attention and led him to put the festival on hold for the time being.
A source close to the situation disclosed,
"Initially, Alien received around 15 million for the Freedom Show Concert, and Abitex had raised the offer to 20 million this time. However, Alien remained unsatisfied."
The same source mentioned that the other promoters are open to collaborating with Alien Skin to jointly organize the event and share the resulting profits.
