Musician and now school director Wicliff Tugume, aka Ykee Benda, last month announced his intentions to unseat Semujju Nganda from Parliament.

When asked which party ticket he intends to use in his political pursuits, Ykee Benda explained he doesn't need a political party to win an election.

He just needs the people's mandate and support to represent them in Parliament, using MP Muhammad Nsereko as an example. Nsereko has been winning elections as Kampala Central MP for two terms while running as an independent candidate.

"I don't need a political party to lead my people. I can run as an independent. Nsereko has been leading for almost fifteen years without a political party," Ykee Benda said in part during an interview with a local television station.

The singer, however, says he is still considering the political move and will come out publicly when it's the right time.
