Filmmaker and director John Segawa believes that Chameleone made Bobi Wine, and that the NUP President wouldn’t be where he is today without Chameleone's influence.

Segawa explained that Chameleone is the godfather of the entertainment industry, and his influence has brought about a fundamental change, inspiring artists like Bobi Wine and Bebe Cool to make music in Luganda.

"Jose Chameleone shaped the industry, so he is the godfather. He transformed the entertainment scene, including inspiring the most beloved presidential candidate, Bobi Wine. Chameleone should be celebrated as a hero because of his significant contribution to the industry’s growth," Segawa said in an interview with a local television station.

Segawa suggested that Chameleone should be honored with a state burial as a hero for his massive contribution when he passes.

"Chameleone came in when people were singing in English, like Juliana, Irene Namubiru, among others. He sang in Luganda, people embraced it, and the industry has never looked back. He is a hero."
