Musician Fik Gaza has received backlash from NUP supporters on social media for allegedly abandoning the National Unity Platform (NUP) for "Sevo's bread."
In a video circulating on social media, Fik Gaza is seen exchanging pleasantries with NRM promoter Balaam Barugahare, who also serves as the Minister for Youths. Balaam hands over gifts to the dancehall singer, which Fik Gaza happily accepts.
In a statement shared on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, Balaam revealed that Fik Gaza had requested government support to address challenges in the ghettos of Gaza, Kampala.
Balaam explained that Fik Gaza is urging the government to support the education of underprivileged children in the ghettos and collaborate in cracking down on criminal activities in those areas.
“Fik Gaza, the Kabaka of Gaza Empire, paid our office a visit this afternoon with a pressing agenda. He’s calling on the government to support the education of underprivileged children in the ghettos with scholastic materials, ensuring they have access to quality schooling. Additionally, he’s urging authorities to work with the Gaza Empire administration to crack down on crime within the Gaza Empire and address all forms of criminality. As a gesture of goodwill, Fik Gaza has extended an invitation for us to visit Gaza next week. This development has been shared with relevant stakeholders,” Balaam wrote, attaching a video of his meeting with Fik Gaza.
Fik Gaza's move to collaborate with the government has drawn significant criticism from NUP supporters, many accusing him of betraying their leader, Bobi Wine.
For over a year, Fik Gaza has been vocal in his support for Bobi Wine, frequently praising the NUP President for his exceptional leadership.
