Pastor Aloysius Bujjingo, a well-known religious figure in the city, has shared his account of how his relationship with Susan Makula began. He claims it wasn't love at first sight. Initially, he says, his intentions were purely pastoral. Makula was going through a difficult time, and he offered her spiritual support and prayers.

"It's funny looking back, because I wasn't interested in her romantically at all," he explained during a sermon. "I was simply praying for her. She was facing many challenges and had even decided to give up on dating."

He invited Makula to join him on stage as he recounted the story, describing the moment his feelings changed. “One day, it just clicked. I knew I wanted to marry her. I saw wisdom in her,” he said.

Makula, a single mother when they met, also shared her perspective. She emphasized that she wasn't interested in Bujjingo's wealth. "I played hard to get," she admitted. "I even refused his financial help, even though I could have used it, because I didn't want him to think I was after his money."

She explained that she was living in a small rented apartment at the time and, while she had a job, she also had the responsibility of raising her son. "I wanted to show him my love wasn't for sale. Money wasn't going to make me his wife," she said.

Makula wanted to build a relationship based on more than just financial security. "I told him, 'Don't try to win me with money. Show me there's something more to you, something that will keep me here even if the money disappears.'"

In 2024, Pastor Bujjingo announced that they were planning a wedding, though a specific date hasn't been set.
