High Court Justice Wilson Musene has this morning freed former CPS DPC Aaron Baguma on Bail.
Baguma was last week remanded to Kigo government prison by Buganda Road Magistrates Court. The same Court committed him to High Court on Tuesday and advised him to apply for Bail, which he did immediately.
On Wednesday, Baguma appeared before Justice Musene who sent him back to Kigo until this morning when he re-appeared for the ruling.
In his application, through his lawyers Ronald Muhwezi, Abraham Tumwine and Innocent Komugisha, Baguma submitted that he is entitled to bail as a Ugandan citizen and took an oath of elegancy, to show that he will obey any bail terms set by the High court.
He presented three sureties including AIGP Stephen Kasiima Head of Police Traffic Directorate, and his two uncles Robert Kato, 40, and Emmanuel Muhanguzi 37.
This morning, Kampala High Court Judge Justice Wilson Musalu Musene granted the troubled officer a Shs. 5 million cash bail, while each of his three sureties was also put on a Shs.50 million noncash bond.
Baguma is charged in the murder of Kampala business woman Donah Katusabe who was tortured to death at the hands of pine car bond proprietor Muhamad Sebuwufu who is facing the same charges.
Court heard that on different occasions, Baguma visited the torture chambers, and instead of helping Katusabe as his job dictates, he only advised her to pay the 9 Million shillings debt and walk free.
Baguma was ordered to report once every month until hearing of the case starts on 7th October.
