Widow of late businessman Eria Ssebunya Bugembe aka Kasiwukira, Ms. Sarah Nabikolo, has been acquitted of murder charges.
Nabikoro, her cousin Sarah Nankungu and a police officer Jaden Ashraf were arrested and prosecuted for the death of her husband in 2014.
Today, High Court judge Wilson Masalu Musene said evidence presented indicated that her two co-accused were guilty of the gruesome murder. He sentenced them to 20 years in jail.
Police constable Jaden Ashraf, accused of knocking down businessman Kasiwukira, convicted of murder. Prosecution earlier told court that Jadeni drove the Pajero Reg. No. UAE 018A a vehicle used in Kasiwukira’s murder.
The vehicle in question originally belonged to Nankungu who would later sell it to a security guard at Sameer agriculture and livestock.
Kasiwukira was knocked dead by a speeding car while jogging on the morning of October 17th 2014 in Diplomate zone Muyenga. The car was later sold on October 27th 2014.
Justice Musene said that Evidence shows businessman Kasiwukira died a malicious death and not from a fatal accident .
