Jinja Grade One magistrates court on Thursday charged four more Rwenzururu Kingdom royal guards with 41 counts of treason, murder attempted, murder and aggravated robbery.
The offences were allegedly committed between March and November 2016 within the Rwenzori region.
The suspects were paraded before grade one magistrate Peter Mutala. They include Eria Kule, Amos Bwambale, Ferguson Bwambale and Nehemia Mbusa. These were produced in court without representation by lawyers.
They were arrested together with their King Charles Wesley Mumbere on November 27 last year following UPDF-led assault on Mumbere's palace in Kasese town.
The army was searching for persons suspected to be involved in attacks in Rwenzori region. Although court has charged more than 180 people and released some on bail including Mumbere, the four have since been hospitalised and were not able to be produced in court.
They sustained gunshot injuries during the clashes and have been undergoing treatment at Bombo Military Hospital.
Prosecution alleges that the accused persons, between March and November 2016, at different places within Kabarole and Kasese districts, contrived a plot to overturn the government of Uganda by use of arms.
Prosecution alleges that the accused persons expressed the plot through attacks on various police establishments, killing of police officers, robbing arms and ammunition and recruitment of individuals to join in an armed insurrection against the government.
They are also accused of providing and participating in military training of recruits in preparation for an armed insurrection to overthrow the government of Uganda, acquisition of communication equipment such as walk-talkies and attending meetings within Uganda and abroad in an attempt to acquire arms and ammunition.
They will return to court on 10th April together with the rest of the suspects for further mention of their case.
