Security in Savannah region have put motor cyclists on alert over possible fresh attacks by iron-bar hit-men as the festive season draws near.

The warning follows the murder of a boda boda cyclist identified as Peter Taipera on Tuesday night by suspected iron bar hit-men.

A resident of Butayunja village in Nakaseke Sub County, Taipera reportedly bled to death after he was allegedly hit on the head. The assailants disappeared with his motorcycle number UEL 922X, a bajaj boxer.

His body was found lying at Kiziba ward in Nakaseke town on Wednesday morning and was transferred to Nakaseke Hospital for postmortem as Police hunt for the killers.

The Savannah Regional Police Commander Edward Kyaligonza says that as Christmas season draws near, motorcyclists must be vigilant.

Kyaligonza explains that they have decided to embark on community policing among the motorists to remind them to be cautious about the passengers they transport at night and in hard-to-reach areas.
