The Police in Oyam have in custody one of their own in connection to the escape of two suspects from lawful custody under his watch.

Daniel Aluku, a Police constable attached to Oyam Central Police Station was arrested after the escape of Robert Atim and Bernard Ochan, both residents of Myene Sub County in Oyam District from the police station on Sunday. 

According to reports, the duo, which was being held for aggravated robbery, made off with Aluku's firearm registration number UG POL 564804 28-24076. The officer however claims that the suspects assaulted him when he escorted them for a short call and made off with his gun. 

North Kyoga Region Police spokesperson David Ongom Mudong says they have locked up the officer to help with investigations in the matter, and the North Kyoga Region Police Commander, John Peter Ematu held a crisis meeting to plan how to track down the suspects.
