Police in Kaberamaido has in its custody David Oswald Einyu, the Town Council LC III Chairperson, for alleged arson.

Einyu who has been on the run finally handed himself to police on Monday after a long period of hiding in Kampala. He reported to Kaberamaido Central Police Station in the company of his lawyer where is locked up, after his lawyer supposedly tried to negotiate for his release on police bond in vain. 

The Kaberamaido LC III Chairperson allegedly set ablaze the house of Simon Okello, a resident of Gwetom A village in Kaberamaido Sub County before going into in hiding last month. He suspected that Okello was involved in an extra marital affair with his wife.

According to Michael Odongo the East Kyoga Region Police Spokesperson, Einyu will appear in court later today on charges of arson and malicious damage.

The accused is implicated by one of the eyewitnesses who saw him around Okello's home three times in the company of his brothers before they allegedly used petrol to torch the house after breaking the padlocks. Fire destroyed all properties inside the house.
