Security agencies have been asked to produce three re-arrested suspects charged with the murder of former Police Spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi.
Yusuf Mugerwa, Yusuf Nyanzi and Jibril Kalyango lawyers filed an application demanding for their production in court.
Anthony Wameli and Godfrey Turyamusiima have each filed a separate application in the Civil Division of High Court against Attorney General, Inspector General of Police, Martin Okoth Ochola and the Commandant Special Investigations Division- of Police- SID, Elly Womanya.
In their application, the lawyers allege that on September 11th, 2019, the applicants appeared before the International Crimes Division Registrar, Esther Nansambu for signing off their release orders having been granted bail by Justice Lydia Mugambe.
After the release, the suspects were put in the car of one of their lawyers, James Mubiru from where they were picked by plain-clothed armed men, bundled into a van and whisked to an unknown place.
Now, the dup says they have tried to look for them in SID Kireka Police facility but have been denied access including that of their relatives.
The applications are all supported by the affidavits of one of their lawyers Turyamusiima who says that it is now beyond the mandatory 48 hours since the trio has been held incommunicado and on unknown charges.
Now, Wameli says the continued detention of the suspects is illegal and infringes on their constitutional right to liberty. He wants court to order the respondents in the application to produce the suspects in court and show why they should not be released unconditionally.
The application is yet to be allocated to the Judge who will be fixing it for hearing.
