Police in Amuru is searching for unidentified thugs who shot and injured unarmed private security guard identified as Godfrey Mabura.

The victim was guarding Stabex International Petrol Station in Amuru Sub County Trading Centre when he was shot by two gunmen in the wee hours of this morning.

According to Agnes Linda Auma, the Amuru Resident District Commissioner-RDC, the unknown thugs shot Mabura in the neck and left leg as he tried to engage them when they broke in the strong room and made off with unspecified money. Security has cordoned off the scene to cover some evidence.

The thugs allegedly stormed the pump fuel station riding on a Bajaj motorcycle. The victim is currently admitted at St Mary`s Hospital Lacor in Gulu Town where he was rushed while bleeding profusely.  

According to the Aswa River Region Police Spokesperson Patrick Jimmy Okema, investigations into the matter are underway.
