Police in Kisoro are hunting for a 28 year old man identified as Ndikumukiza Gerald a resident of Kageyo village Busengo Parish Nyarubuye Sub County in Kisoro district for chopping 4 people to death.
Elly Maate the Kigezi regional police spokesperson identiies the deceased as Sebitama Deogratious 80, Nyiraguhirwa Bonconsira 75, Mujawimana Maliserina 26 and Nyiramahoro joan 20.
The incident which happened on Thursday night was reported at police by Nsengimana Clever a resident of the same area.
According to Maate, the suspect arrived home at a round 9:00pm on Thursday night, picked a panga and attacked the four people all his relatives, hacking them to death.
Ndikumukiza first killed his wife Mujawimana Maliserina, there after killed Nyiramahoro Joan his brother Habyaremye George’s wife, then proceeded to kill his father Sebutama Deogratious and ended with the mother Nyiraguhirwa Bonconsira.
The suspect is said to have come from Masaka where he had been working as a casual labourer with his brother Habyaremye George.
The motive behind this deplorable act is still unknown although he has a history of mental illness, according to Maate.
Police visited the scene, recorded statements from witnesses and by press time, the four bodies were still at the scene pending postmortem.
The suspect is on the run and police are searching for him.
