The Police in Mukono District are investigating double murders involving Lawrence Lwera and his nephew Francis Kigozi.
Luke Owoyesigyire the Deputy PRO KMP says they received reports from the chairman of Namubiru Village in Nama Sub County, Mukono District a one Henry Kabanda, indicating that Lwera, 70, a peasant of the same area, was returning home on March 10, 2021, when his nephew Kigozi waylaid him.
Kigozi allegedly hit Lwera seriously on the head with a blunt object and left him for dead, until a good Samaritan managed to rescue Lwera and took him to Namirembe Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries later.
It is alleged that when the community got information about the incident, they hunted for Kigozi whom they accused of being behind the attack.
The mob arrested Kigozi and lynched him to death 150m from his home. Police were informed but it was too late and both lives had been lost.
Both bodies have been taken to Kawolo Hospital for post mortem and investigations are ongoing.
