Three people have been burnt to death while four others critically injured following a fire set by unknown arsonist in Luwero district.
is hunting for unknown people who burnt three people to death and left four others in a suspected arson attack on an LCII Chairperson.
Isah Ssemwogerere the Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson identified the as Irene Nangobi, Esther Naigaga and Amos Ndaye who had visited their father in law, one Edward Ssekandi the LC II Chairperson for Kabanyi parish in Bamunanika Sub County.
Those who were injured in the fire are; Edward Ssekandi, Beatrice Ndibayebwa and another identified only as Kevin. The incident occurred at Ssekandi's home at Kyabugga village.
One of the residents called to rescue the victims at around 4:00 am says they found two people dead as a result of suffocation. They however managed to put off the fire and removed five other people before they rushed them to Bishop Ceaser Asili hospital for treatment after sustaining fire burn injuries.
Unfortunately, Ndaye succumbed to the burns at the hospital. Ssekandi, his wife, daughter and another visitor are still battling for their life at the hospital.
Ssekandi allegedly said that unknown people locked the house with a padlock before setting it ablaze, making it difficult for them to escape. The motive of the attackers remains unknown.
According to Ssemwogerere, investigations into the incident have already started and the dead bodies have been transferred to Luwero hospital for post mortem.
