Two suspects are in police custody in Masindi for allegedly hacking to death a cattle keeper.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson identifies the suspects as Turikumwe Mugisha 21 and Seperani Imanishimwe 19 both residents of Kyangamoyo village in Kijunjuba parish, Kijunjuba sub county Masindi district.
Reports indicate that on Monday this week, the two suspects together with others still at large attacked and hacked Paul Rwamuhanda, a 50 year old herdsman in the same village whom they found grazing cows in their maize plantation.
He was rushed to Kitara Medical Center in Masindi town for treatment, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Hakiza says that after the brutal murder of the herdsman, police swung into action and started hunting for the suspects.
They were arrested on Tuesday evening from the same village and immediately whisked to Masindi central police station where they are currently being detained.
Once police investigations are through, Hakiza says the duo will be arraigned before court to be charged with murder, while the hunt for other suspects who are also believed to have participated in the murder of the deceased is ongoing.
