A 30-year-old woman is in trouble for strangling her two-month-old baby to death.
Patience Biira, a resident of Buhumbika Village Kyondo Sub County in Kasese District allegedly killed her baby and later dumped the body into Kithakena river in Bizibwera village in Maliba Sub County.
The body was discovered by a local resident identified as Zebia Ithungu at around 6:30 am on Friday while she was going to attend to her gardens.
Ismail Kaawo the Rwenzori East Police Spokesperson told the media that Biira’s relatives got concerned when they saw her without a baby and alerted police in Kyondo, who liaised with their Hima counterparts to arrest her.
The mother told police that her husband chased her away from their rented house in Maliba and that on her way to her family home she opted to kill the baby.
Biira will be arraigned in court to answer charges of murder.
She is currently being held at Hima police station.
